The quality of motor lamination is depended on magnetic induction intensity , Iron loss, magnetic aging etc, there are many ways to judge the quality of motor core, now I will tech the easiest way to identify good quality or bad quality.
From color of the silicon steel, most of grain-oriented silicon steel sheet is gray, Non Grain Oriented Steel’s color is white generally. From thickness of silicon steel, the thinner the better, the eddy current loss will be less as well. We will check the smoothness of the silicon steel in the following step, and also the thickness each of silicon die should keep the same, and the if any burr in the edge of punching. The quality of insulation coating is also very important to the motor lamination,
For the transformer lamination, we could wind the coil first, and then tested according the designed AC Current without any load, and checking the current, the less the better, and we can also tested with load and check the temperature change, the higher temperature the more iron loss.
We could also tested by power meter equipment to check the magnetic loss. The less magnetic loss, the better quality. So when we select the motor lamination, price is the only standard to choose, but also the good quality.
